Austin Fairchild

Iowa Lakes Community College

Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative

Worked closely with Iowa Lakes Electric’s wind technicians on all areas of GE 1.5 MW maintenance and trouble shooting. He also participated in an excellent 2 day training session for tower escape and rescue.

Jared Gillilan

Northeast Community College, Norfolk, NE

Anemomety Specialists

First-year wind energy student. Plans to graduate in 2013. Worked with crews and travelled the U.S. installing and maintaining met towers.

David Grant

Iowa Lakes Community College

Anemometry Specialists

Received an AAS degree in wind energy and turbine technology in 2012. Worked with crews and travelled the U.S. installing and maintaining met towers.

Qiang Guo

Iowa State University

Availon

Worked closely with Availon’s engineers and management, developing processes for WindCentralTM, Availon’s remote operation center, and software for management tools.  Researched applications of condition-based monitoring and SCADA systems and helped in developing interfaces with customers’ networks.  Advanced electrical troubleshooting skills through hands-on training.  Currently attending Iowa State University working toward completing a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.

Second-year student this fall at Iowa Lakes Community College. Also received an AAS degree from Northeast Community College, Norfolk, NE. Worked with crews and travelled the U.S. installing and maintaining met towers.

Meredith Rich

Iowa State University

Availon

Worked closely with Availon’s parts and product support teams, providing customer service and sourcing parts for turbine upgrades. Took part in the development of training documentation for Availon’s field personnel and gained electrical troubleshooting experience.  This fall, will be a junior at Iowa State University studying electrical engineering.
